It was the end of the day and they took their time leaving.\u00a0 But she had come to accept it and stood back watching as they lingered together in hushed sounds and movements. \u00a0Always stalling and\u00a0wishing\u00a0they could stay … just a few moments longer before stepping back into their lives.\u00a0 The desire to hold on to an experience of the inexplicable; a presence of something tangible yet unseen.<\/p>\n

Sally sensed it too and\u00a0was certain she could open twenty four hours and people would still find their way here.<\/p>\n

She turned the \u2018closed\u2019 sign against the door and locked it noticing the clouds gathering and rain fast approaching the shore.\u00a0 The atmosphere had darkened and was heavy.<\/p>\n

They both laughed.<\/p>\n

Tallied up and tidied up, kettle on and loose tea in the pot,\u00a0 china cups and leftover cake,\u00a0it was time for Sally and Alice to sit for a while, quietly reflecting\u00a0on the day.\u00a0 They easily resisted the temptation for gossip.\u00a0 Instead they shared their observations and encounters and took a moment to be thankful and wonder and plan.<\/p>\n

Will the book club be starting back this week?<\/em><\/p>\n

I think so. \u00a0I think leaving\u00a0new invites on the tables would be a good idea.<\/em><\/p>\n

She might come.<\/em><\/p>\n

Yes, she might.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019ll get the shutters.<\/em><\/p>\n
